2021 - 2022 School Year

Writer: Pam SteelPam Steel

We received a generous donation from Mike & Sheila Abusaab to kick off the new school year for Food 2 Kids Big Spring (accepting the donation is Raul Marquez - Vice President Food 2 Kids Big Spring)

Currently, we are serving 310 students a weekend food sack. We serve Big Spring ISD students at Goliad, Moss, Marcy, Big Spring Intermediate and Kentwood.

We are not assembling the food sacks in Big Spring. The sacking is taking place at the West Texas Food Bank in Midland/Odessa. Food 2 Kids Big Spring purchases the food sacks from the food bank and they deliver the sacks to the campuses we serve in Big Spring.

We miss gathering community volunteers for our monthly sacking but we are restricted at this time from gathering to assemble sacks. However, we are grateful that the students who need our weekend food sacks are still going to be served this school year.

Last school year we served 10,556-weekend food sacks to children in need in our community. The weekend food sacks are $6.00 each which means we spent over $60,000 on food sacks last school year. Thanks to the generous donors that support our non-profit we are able to continue to serve students this school year too!
